The main differences between the Pioneer's two 42 plasma televisions, the PDP-428XD and PDP-4280XD are that the 428XD has Intelligent Brightness Control, Home Gallery, ISF Calibration Ready and Multiscreen options, whereas the 4280XD doesn't.

Intelligent brightness is a system where the brightness levels of the 42 plasma screen will automatically adjust depending on the ambient level of light in the room. In plain English bright during the day and less bright at night.

Home Gallery is a JPEG multi-viewer which means you can look at your pictures you've taken using your phone or camera at optimum quality. Simply insert your memory card into the TV.

ISF Calibration ready feature allows your 42 plasma TV panel to be optimized for your viewing environment. Via optional service, a trained professional can precisely calibrate your plasma panel with customised levels of contrast, tint, colour level and other parameters.

Multi-screen options is PiP, picture in picture. This is handy for those who like to channel hope or those who want to watch two matches at once.
